Identify your favorite theorist( Michel Foucault) from our readings and list and define three of their main concepts used to understand the essential social experience and social actions of ‘persons in society’. Then thoughtfully choose your favorite activist artist. Then write a research paper defending your theorists’ concepts of personhood using 3 examples from the life and work of your favorite activist artist( Porsha olayiwola) whose work reflects ‘social identity’ and/or one’s internal sense of ‘personhood’ or ‘self’. Be sure to defend against the concepts of at least three other theorists(Erich Fromm, Wilhelm Reich, W.E.B Du Bois’ “The Souls of Black Folk” )we covered in our readings. The main purpose is to deeply analyze how artists and social theorists help us to re-examine our life process as persons in society. The questions to answer are:

1.What does it mean to be a person in society: both on the inside and as a social interactant or ‘active agent’ in society?
2.How does art and artmaking shape our sense of self and personal identity as we all as community orientation? What communities are we part of and why do we stick to them?
3.How do historical and current social theorists help us frame the truest meaning of what it means to be a person in society?
4.Where is the power in being fully a human person in society? Which theorists and artists truly capture this scientifically or most accurately?
5.Does science or art capture the human experience most accurately for you? Do we need both science and art to capture the full picture of what it means to be a human person in societbpty? Are art and science a false binary?
