Week 5: Economic Determinants of Population HealthLast week you examined how the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) impacted population health. Although economic stability is considered one of the social determinants research has demonstrated the significance of economics solely to health.Poverty and poor health worldwide are inextricably linked. The causes of poor health for millions globally are rooted in political social and economic injustices. Poverty is both a cause and a consequence of poor health. Poverty increases the chances of poor health. Poor health in turn traps communities in poverty (Health Poverty Action n.d.).As a health care administrator you want to break that cycle in the community. Therefore this week you reflect on how economics intermingles with and impacts population health.
